At 9 a.m. today, (Tuesday, January 28th,) Dade County Head Football Coach Dale Pruitt met with his players to inform them he is stepping down as Head Coach and will be accepting an offer to take over the program at Marion County, TN.
Pruitt, father of University of Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt, coached Marion to back-to-back 7-win seasons in 2004-05 & is nine wins from career-milestone 300.
The Dade County School Board approved Pruitt's resignation during last night's meeting in executive session.
Pruitt said during a phone interview that he got an offer from Marion County that "at this time I just felt like that's the best place for me at this point in my career."
Pruitt graduated from Plainview High School and Jacksonville State University. His coaching career started in Pisgah where he led his team to an undefeated season.
After two years, Pruitt started coaching at his alma mater in Plainview, with 164 wins and 64 loses during his 17 year run.
Pruitt has coached at several other schools during his career. These schools include: head coach at Fort Payne, head coach at Marion County, TN, and a second run at Plainview.
Pruitt moved to Albertville following the 2014 season. His overall record in Alabama is 275-129 and 289-138 in both states prior to this past season. His teams have made the playoffs a total of 25 times, he's won 13 region championships, and he coached four teams to undefeated regular seasons.
