The Optimist Club of Trenton/Dade will be participating in Optimist International’s Optimist Day on February 6, 2020.  Members of Optimist International will celebrate Optimist Day throughout the world the first Thursday of every February to promote their efforts in helping and recognizing the people that make a difference in their communities. On Optimist Day, Optimists are asked to wear Optimist attire (shirts, pins, hats, etc.)

“Our Optimist Club’s number one priority is helping the children of this community. Optimist Day will be awareness to our community about our Club and our mission,” Club President Sarah Moore said. “With Optimist Day, we hope to be able to get more people involved and bring more projects to the children of the community who need it the most.”

The Optimist Club of Trenton/Dade has been supporting local youth since January 26, 1984, Charter Year. Programs and service projects that the Club is involved in include Scholarship Awards for Dade County High School Graduates (2 to 3 per year), Oratorical and Essay Contests, Youth Appreciation, Law Enforcement Appreciation, Tri Star Sports (Basketball and Football), sponsorship of Star Student and Teachers awards and Children’s Day. We prepare food baskets for needy children and families. We also contribute to Hope for the Holidays, Festival of Life, Inspire, Dade County 4-H and Dade County Elementary, Middle and High School Youth Clubs and activities. We are in the process of forming a Junior Optimist Club at Dade Middle School.
