Lawson Medical Practice, owned by Nurse Practitioner Stephanie Lawson, has opened for business at 12415 N. Main St., Trenton.
Lawson is a 1995 graduate from North Jackson High School and has lived in Dade County since 1999.
She has earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University, and a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner degree from Auburn University.
She is currently back in school at Auburn University pursuing her Doctorate of Science in Nursing degree, which will be completed in December 2020.
“I planned on opening a business, but I wanted to wait until I was finished with school. The opportunity opened though. It was such a great opportunity and I didn’t want to pass it up,” Lawson said.
This is the first time Lawson has had her own practice, and she says it is a new adventure.
“I love giving compassionate care and trying to be the most cost effective. I have been a nurse for 20 years and the majority of that has been trying to find resources for people and trying to keep them out of the hospital. It is very important to me,” Lawson said.
The services at Lawson Medical Practice include cosmetics, such as a Botox injection for $10, JUVÉDERM filler for $450 and skin tag / age spot removals for $30.
There is also a walk-in clinic for sick visits, where Lawson will treat patients for illnesses such as strep throat, flu and ear infections.
Lawson accepts both walk-ins and scheduled appointments.
Lawson’s Medical Practice is open Mondays and Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Lawson noted that she wanted to set evening and weekend hours to be more available to the working force who may work 9 to 5 during the week.
“I feel like these hours meet the needs of the community. It keeps our people here and keeps them from having to go to Lookout Valley or Chattanooga,” Lawson said.
For now, Lawson Medical Practice only accepts payments from patients. She hopes to be able to take insurance in the future.
